Well I am not really sure that anybody reads this anymore. I don't really have time to sit on this and write a lot. In my spare time...well if I'm not out and about...I sleep, cuz I don't get a lot as it is now. But I am excited. The semester is over and I am about to head off on a 14 day vacation. Yes 14 days...to Sydney, Hobart, Melbourne and Adelaide. I'm excited to say the least. I have been working hard for the last 12 weeks. And now it is time to let loose. Anyway....this isn't really saying much in terms of what i really want to say, but that's because I am spent.

Well I don't really know if anyone reads this anymore or if you are like me you just sort of get the emails take a glance and then delete it without actually reading it. This is not one of those posts. This is not about my life or some issue I have or the fact that I love soccer.....THIS IS SOMETHING MORE!!!!!! September 21st!!!! To most people September 21st is just another day....the day after your birthday....Monday...whatever. BUT DID YOU KNOW....September 21st is World Peace Day and a day of ceasefire across the globe. Most people don't know much less care. Peace is a long-sought after ideal. Peace is what every young beauty queen hopes to achieve or see. September 21st is not only a day about peace as an ideal, where Kofi Annan (UN Secretary General) rings the peace bell and we hug each other. It is a day where we seek a ceasefire....for all weapons to be put down for 24 hours. It doesn't sound so hard, but will it be done? It is not likely that everyone around the world will put down their weapons for 24 hours. Think of how many lives could be saved from death in 24 hours. Think of how much food could be delivered in 24 hours. This is not just about putting down your guns...this is about making it possible for humanitarian aid to get to places where it could not otherwise go because of the guns. Think of how many orphan children will get a meal with that aid. But today we are in a war...the "war" in Iraq, the "war" on terror, civil war, etc. There is so much war and fighting in this world. Will Bush call all the US troops to put down their weapons for one day? Will rebel groups in Africa put down their weapons? Will terrorists put down their weapons? I don't know. Our government is one that is "to the people, for the people, by the people." Can we as a nation create such an outcry to our government that is "supposed" to be doing what we want it to do? Can our voices save a life? Can our voices feed an orphan? If we raised our voices, would our government listen? On September 21st I will be celebrating a day of peace. I will be praying for a ceasefire. If the World Cup, a sporting event, can stop the civil war and fighting in one country, what can a day of peace and ceasefire accomplish? Join me.

Seriously....I just read that Zidane (the great Zinedine Zidane) headbutted Matterazi during the final of the World Cup for saying that he'd prefer Zidane's sister to Zidane's jersey. I think I've heard worse on the kindergarten playground. Now I know some people are very protective of their family and are offended by that kind of insinuation, but come on....YOU'RE ON THE BIGGEST STAGE OF THEM ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now....does this at all change my opinion of Zidane at all??? NO!!! I could care less...the man knows how to ball. You can't blame the guy...I mean....think of all the pressure and the passion involved in a World Cup final....it's a volatile mixture. Sad to see Zidane go......Retire In Peace. 2010--South Africa!!!
